Emerald Park was packed to the rafters as Gorleston entertained Norwich City in a glittering curtain-raiser to the Greens' 125th anniversary season.
Gorleston were well beaten 8-1 in front of the sell-out crowd of 1,300, but could take heart from a plucky performance against their Championship opponents.

LAST Wednesday Great Yarmouth and District AC had a good turnout for the Mike Groves Run at Coltishall.
Nine members ran in this popular if somewhat unusual distance race.
All clear over fish-killing algae

ANGLERS' fears that a serious outbreak of the fish killer algae prymnesium had broken out in the Upper River Thurne, have been allayed by the Environment Agency whose fishery officers have sounded the all-clear.
